NEWS FLASH!!!

I am pleased to announce that after MUCH prayer, worry, stress, consideration, phone conversations, headaches, crying (not so much David, more me!), and more prayer, David has received a firm offer (and accepted it) and is now ready to become the newest member of the Coastal Eye Care team!!! He has a JOB! (Okay - he's had jobs for years, but this one is as a DOCTOR with a paycheck that can actually get us through a day or two!) We are SO proud of him and how hard he has worked for so many years. We are all thrilled to see all that hard work pay off and pray that after all this he loves what he is doing!

So, now for details. He will be working at two different offices - one of them 2 days a week and one of them the other 3 days a week. We aren't sure which days he'll be where yet. The offices are located in Long Beach, Washington and Seaside, OR. We think we will probably end up in a town called Astoria, OR because it's about halfway in between, but for now we're just scrambling to find a rental anywhere around there! The doctor who owns the practice is Darren Thorsen, O.D. and he and David really seem to get along well. I think it's a great thing that they seem to have a similar sense of humor and stuff, and mentioned "yin and yang" but David says he thinks they are more like "yin and yin"! Hope that's not a problem!

We believe David will start his optometric responsibilities in mid-June which gives us a little time to try to find a place to park ourselves and get to know the area. We are appreciative to Dr. Thorsen for this timetable because David will not have his license yet and will be working under Dr. Thorsen's for the time being until national board scores are posted and he is able to get licensed in both Oregon and Washington. Until then, we may end up in the Tacoma/Puyallup area with family for a little bit because the girls need to finish up school somewhere.

We are getting everything packed here at the house in anticipation of moving out next Saturday. We will have new carpet installed for the new owners and then stay with our friends, the Gibbons, until David graduates May 2. We plan to have dinner with his parents after graduation that night and then hit the road!!! I'm so excited and so not looking forward to driving across the country! At least we get to visit the Hadlocks and David's brother Dan and his wife, Andrea on the way home. That should help give us something to look forward to each day even when we are exhausted and tired of listening to "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" on the DVD player for the 4 millionth time! :)

I'm ready for some sleep (all the packing and stress has kinda worn me out!) so I'm headed off to bed. Be sure to check out the fun pictures at the top of this post of the banner I commissioned for David that is now hanging on the front of our house. Thanks again for you help with that, mom! Also, if you have time and the mood strikes, check out the link at the top left of my blog that takes you to the website for David's new offices. There are even pictures of Dr. Thorsen and the offices. Maybe David's picture will be on there soon! I'm also adding a link to a great website for the area that we're moving. Who's coming to visit us at the beach first?! :)
Love to all, Ruth
