I wanted to post some pix of the house we're renting here in Astoria. It is a gorgeous, almost brand new home with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It has all the most recent styles and modern interior and appliances. I love it in almost every way - except it's WAY too small for our family! The ad in the paper said 1800 sq ft which should be plenty for us for now, but I think that number was being QUITE generous! We haven't been able to fit in this house as well as we fit in our Memphis house and we aren't even done unpacking yet! And our Memphis house was 1592 sq ft. Maybe it's just because this house is laid out so differently from the other one, but I can't believe that would make this much difference. Anyway, like I said, fortunately the house is beautiful and new so everything works well and is pretty fancy! I just have to keep reminding myself that this is temporary and eventually we will be able to buy a house that works better for our family. SOMEDAY..... :)
So, sorry for that big pity party I just had for myself! Things are good and we are very blessed. Here are a couple of pix I took today of the house and view. Enjoy! Ruth
The front of our new home. We don't have a backyard to speak of. All of Astoria goes up a steep hill and most houses have little or no backyard. Kinda a bummer, but that's just the way it is here! We do, however, have a nice deck with sliding glass going out from the dining room and the master bedroom. I'll add those pix to my blog when I add pix of the inside of the house.
This is the view looking straight out off of our front porch. The view from the living room and girls' bedroom windows is better because it's up higher but I didn't want to have the glare from the glass! The water you see in the distance is Young's Bay.
This is the view off to the left when looking out from our front porch. The water you see there is Lewis and Clark River. All of this water is connected to the end of the Columbia River which is the border between Washington and Oregon. Then all of that empties into the Pacific Ocean just a couple miles farther out. You can see the ocean from Astoria, just not from our house.

Pretty awesome! Maybe a square foot is smaller out west.
